Julio Bernardo Ludemir: Co-Curator of Literature RJ
Julio Ludemir was born in Rio de Janeiro and grew up in Olinda, Pernambuco. He is a screenwriter and widely published author. As one of the creators of Batalha do Passinho (a dance that emerged from the funk scene in the favelas of Rio), he was instrumental in presenting young dancers on TED Global in Rio de Janeiro and at Lincoln Center in New York. Mr. Ludemir is a co-director and one of the creators of FLUPP, the Literary Festival of the Peripheries, an international gathering writers and artists that takes place in Rio’s favelas. FLUPP invites international authors and poets to speak to the community, and features the work of young writers from favelas and poor communities in Rio. Ludemir is the winner of the Faz Diferença (Making a Difference) prize, awarded by O Globo, Rio’s major daily newspaper.
